Senior Microsoft Access / SQL Server Database Developer

An excellent opportunity has opened up within Inventica for an experienced Microsoft Access and SQL Server developer, to work as part of a small, multidisciplinary team, on a number of new and on-going projects for high profile clients.

You will be responsible for new applications and database development, as well as maintaining existing systems.

You will be working with Microsoft Access 2007-2016, Excel and SQL Server 2005-2014.

You will be exposed to every aspect of the lifecycle of business systems with the focus on the development of and reporting from mission critical databases.

Must have technical skills:

• Expert knowledge of Microsoft Access, VBA, Excel/Word Object Model, TSQL
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Microsoft SQL Server database development with client applications in Microsoft Access
• Advanced knowledge of SQL Server Reporting Services, Power Pivot, OLAP Cubes
• Practical experience in designing intuitive and user friendly database interfaces in Microsoft Access 2007, 2010, 2013.

Other skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Maths, or Science discipline or computer-related field required, or equivalent work experience
• Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills
• Very strong attention to detail

All candidates must submit samples of their SQL server code along with a brief description and screenshots of user interfaces in Microsoft Access 2007 or above. Applications without code samples and screenshots will not be considered!

Successful candidates will be asked to complete a number of tests using Microsoft Access and SQL Server.

Senior Software Analyst

We are looking for an organised and energetic business software analyst, to work as part of a small, multidisciplinary team, on a number of new and on-going projects for high profile clients.

You will be responsible for business requirements analysis, drafting user requirements specifications, and helping to define system processes and workflows.

You will be working with Microsoft Access, Excel and SQL Server.

You will be exposed to every aspect of the lifecycle of business systems with the focus on the development of and reporting from mission critical databases.

The successful candidate will:

• Understand business needs of clients and meet regularly with stake holders
• Translate business needs into requirements for the development team
• Produce estimates for cost, resource and timescales for new projects
• Capable of accurately translating user requirements into a user interface design, and specification
• Coordinate software development projects from planning through implementation, testing and deployment
• Manage bug and change requests and analyse them based on current project deadlines and priorities
• Act as a central point of contact for day to day inquiries to the development team
• Organize testing and QA
• Be the owner of the company’s technical documentation, writing documents when needed

Excellent communication and presentation skills are vital in this position, as you will be in contact with clients and at all levels within the organisation.

Essential skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Maths, or Science discipline or computer-related field required, or equivalent work experience
• Advanced knowledge of Excel, macros, VBA
• Technical background in software development or testing desired
• Previous experience or a proven attitude for analysis of data and problem solving
